B"H we have merited completing our thirteenth year of Magen Avos. The year has been so filled with activity that it flew by. This newsletter will give you a taste of all the action in the past two months

End of the year Events

The school was humming with activity as the classes prepared for a myriad of end of the year events.

  • The science exhibition, run by Morah Miri Korach gave all the students in grades 4-8 the opportunity to explore topics related to the material they had learned this year and exhibit it to their mothers.
  • The Personal project exhibition gave the mothers a glimpse into the varied topics that the students have worked on throughout the year in their Ivrit classes. The topics ranged from the seven days of creation, to great Rabbanim, to countries around the world, to "roots"… Along with new knowledge about their topics, the girls learned how to gather information, summarize, ask questions about their topics,, write a bibliography, and many other reading comprehension and expressive writing skills.
  • Grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 ended the year with mother/daughter evenings complete with music, drama, dance and good food.

GRADUATION

The 8th grade put in hours upon hours of practice for a most inspiring and professional play entitled "HIONESTY" for their graduation celebration. The most wonderful part of this memorable evening was that it was totally a Magen Avos production- from the play written by Morah Dorit Erlich, to the direction by Morah Miriam Tuito, the musical scenes and beautiful choir arranged by Morah Chani Stern, the lively dances choreographed by Morah Dena Lipman and Eva Topf and the props and stage set by the students. There were speeches by the Menahelet Simon, Morah Bella Weintraub, Mrs. Karosenti as representative of the mothers and Efrat Golovetzis as representative of the students. Diplomas were awarded to each student.

On the last day of school, the 8th graders received their yearbooks. The 8th grade yearbook is filled with pictures, articles, letters from administration and staff, ads and best wishes from family. This class deserves to be very proud of themselves for the time, effort and skills they put into production of their yearbook. The theme was not to judge by the cover, but to look inside. Inspite of this, both the cover and the inside of their yearbook was a quality job.

The summer is a time for the girls to actualize all they have learned; davening, behaving with yiras shamayim and making a Kiddush Hashem wherever they go. As usual, we end with a special reminder that standards for tznius in dress and comportment are the same in the summer months as during the year; in school and out of school. Students may not have any access to the internet or email. (grandparents may be emailed only with a parent present)
